The Basics
Private tutoring gives students the option to tailor their education to their personal needs as well as gain a deeper understanding through discussion with the tutor. Some students use private tutoring to keep them on track in school, while others use private tutoring to get ahead. The focus and goals of tutoring is up to the student and parent and often evolves as the student's needs change.
Groups
While most sessions are private, sometimes students in the same class or with similar abilities do come in together. This can be a really fun way to learn when the match is just right!
Homework
Homework is given on a case-by-case basis. If a student is coming in primarily for enrichment and to get ahead, then homework is provided after each session. Students who are in tutoring for help with a current course typically do not get homework unless extra practice beyond their current coursework is particularly helpful.
Location
All tutoring sessions are held in a private office at 1685 Beacon Street in Brookline (Washington Square area). Sessions can also be held over Zoom if more convenient and depending on the age and needs of the student.
Times
All sessions are at least an hour long. If a longer session is desired please specify when scheduling. Students are encouraged to set up a regular schedule as times do get booked up quickly.
Rescheduling and Cancellations
Students are asked to provide at least 24 hours notice when canceling with the exception of snow days and emergencies. Students who cancel within 24 hours of the scheduled session are responsible for the hour. When rescheduling on very short notice please keep in mind that during some parts of the year there is limited availability.
